Fairway Club ("we," "us") is a marketplace where golfers post open tee-time slots and other golfers request to join. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep it deliberately short because we collect only what the app needs to work.
Information we collect
- Account details — your email address and display name, provided when you sign up (authentication is handled by Amazon Cognito).
- Profile information you choose to add — handicap or average score, play-style tags, a short bio, a home course, an optional profile photo, and optional details such as a city, age range, or contact handle.
- Activity — the tee-time slots ("drives") you post, requests you send or receive, and messages you exchange with other golfers.
- Technical logs — standard server logs (such as IP address and timestamps) used to operate and secure the service.
Device location
With your permission, the app uses your device location to center the course map on courses near you. This happens on your device to render the map — we do not collect or store your device's GPS location on our servers. Any city or location you type into your profile is stored as ordinary profile text.
Photos
If you choose a profile photo, the app accesses your photo library only for the image you select. That photo is stored on our infrastructure to display your avatar to other golfers.
How we use your information
- To operate the marketplace — showing your posts and profile to other golfers so hosts and guests can connect.
- To deliver requests, messages, and in-app notifications.
- To keep the service safe, prevent abuse, and provide support.
How your information is shared
Your display name, handicap, play-style tags, profile photo, and the tee-time activity you create are visible to other Fairway Club users — that visibility is the product. Beyond that:
- We do not sell your personal information.
- Service providers — we use Amazon Web Services for hosting, authentication (Amazon Cognito), and file storage, and Apple for app distribution. They process data on our behalf to run the service.
- No advertising or analytics trackers — the app contains no third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs.
- We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of our users.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your information while your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing support@fairwayclub.net; we will remove your profile and personal data, except where we must retain limited records for legal or security reasons.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS), access is restricted, and databases are backed up regularly. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
Age requirement
Fairway Club is intended for adults. You must be 18 or older to use the app, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Your choices
You can edit or remove most profile details in the app at any time, revoke location or photo permissions in your device settings, and request account deletion as described above.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update this page and revise the effective date above.
